Thinking about a Zombie themed Chess Set?

I've got a lot to get on with just now, keeping me busy to around November. Once the dust has settled a bit I was planning some projects and I had a cunning idea!

What would you think of a Zombie themed chess set? I'm undecided on whether to have -

1) A traditional human side (King, Queen etc) and the other being their Zombified selves.

2) Modern day human survivors against Various Zombies.

3) Classic Zombie movie characters, with George Romero as the King, Tarman as Knight etc. Then Ash from Evil Dead , Tallahassee, Rick Grimes on the other side.

Would be interested in hearing what you think, is it something you would like to see - or should I just stick to the busts...maybe I could run a contest to get yourself made into a chess piece Zombies?

  1. Pure Brilliance! I like the survivors versus the Zombies idea, but the humans vs. their Zombie counterparts is one I'd really like to see.
Whatever you decide, it's gonna be amazing!!

  2. Thank you Creepy. Modern Human Survivors versus their Zombified selves is definitely a good option and no copyright issues either :)

  4. Op-shun Three! (Crowd chants) OP-SHUN THREE! OP-SHUN THREE!

Other classic survivor characters: Dude holding up a lawnmower from "Dead Alive" (or "Brain Dead," whichever title your country got).

"They're coming to get you" Barbara from NOTLD.

Trash (Linnea Quigley) from Return of the Living Dead.

Shaun from Shaun of the Dead. (He'd be a knight, I'm sure of it.)

  5. Hmmm each option commended. How about an option 4) All of the above. Then you could mix and match the pieces?

  6. i think you should do the this, and then one step further... if you haven't thought of this yet. make all the popular chess pieces large in detail. and offer the set and the statues separate. and of course i want a set. wink.

    great ideas.

  8. I was searching for zombie chess pieces, which is how I ened up here. I was actually looking for zombie vs. zombie to use in the game "Lurch!" - a chess variant. Check it out here: http://www.creativemountaingames.com/2011/10/lurch-zombie-chess-game-in-print-for.html
If you make these pieces, please let me know!

  9. I'll be making some test pieces soon, once I've cleared the next two busts. Thanks for the feedback and the links. Just need to decide on a scale and process.
