I've been asked to make five busts for some British Soldiers who are due to leave the service shortly. The busts being a gift from their colleagues. It's a tremendous honour to be making them and I'm also enjoying the fresh challenge they bring.
The photographs don't show the painting clearly, but I used a lot of ink washes on the skin, for the facial hair etc.
They will be mounted on black Onyx plinths when they're all done. Only another four to go for the beginning of March,,,gulp.
Very nice scuplt.
ReplyDeletewonderful... great work as always.
ReplyDeleteYou do great work, as always.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a most favorite of all your work?
Thank you for all the comments :)
ReplyDeleteThe majority of sculpts I make are commissions or for friends. The commissions are made to specific requests, so I don't really have ownership, I see my role more as a facilitator. I guess the Ava Jean sculpt is one of my favourite, but I have issues with her hands and neck.
I've been asked to make a Zombie Wedding Cake topper with George Romero doing the blessing - so I'm looking forward to getting started on that. Also quite enjoying sculpting non-Zombies just now, a change is as good as a rest.
A zombie wedding cake topper? How fun.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I am writing one type of writing, and I switch to another, I feel like that change is sort of a rest as well.
Pretty cool stuff.
Have a groovy day and an oogie boogie week.
